Tesla prices increase, especially for Model Y
Once again there was an increase in the cost of sales of Tesla vehicles. The principal reason behind this is the significant inflationary pressure on raw materials and logistics. Due to the Russia-Ukraine war, there has been a significant increase in the cost of purchasing metals related to the manufacturing of the cars.
As CNBC revealed, Tesla reportedly purchased millions of euros worth of aluminum from Russia. The russian company belongs to Oleg Deripaska, one of the businessmen that Britain sanctioned. Tesla only started buying aluminum from the company in late 2020. According to documents obtained by CNBC, Tesla bought aluminum from Rusal to cast parts at its new vehicle assembly megafactory outside Berlin, according to documents obtained by CNBC.
The aluminium will be used for casting and to make body shells for the Tesla Model Y as well as other group products. We should at this point though, that the Model Y in particular has received the biggest increase in its price tag. Same applies to the electric SUV that went up in cost. As sales report show, lately in all categories of Tesla prices increase though.
