“Let’s Have a Hackathon”

AUTH teamed up with Microsoft Student Partners Community-Student Guru Thessaloniki and Microsoft Hellas to host the first Hackathon of the year.

The number of participants surprised organizers at the three-day programming marathon, “Let’s Have a Hackathon“.

The “Let’s Have a Hackathon”, addressed to experienced programmers and students, occurred from Friday 7 December to Sunday 9 December. It took place at the KEDEA, after the strategic agreement between the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Microsoft Hellas in September 2018, with the goal to develop the digital skills of human resources in Information and Communication Technologies, emphasizing on digital transition and transformation technologies.

On Friday the 7th of December, presentations related to Cloud Computing, Big Data and mobile application development platforms were held. The presentations continued until noon on December 8, 2018. The topics shared were related to AI and Machine Learning applications through Microsoft’s Azure platform.

The competition, was open only to students with the aim of developing a project on a free topic.

Out of a total of 21 teams, 8 managed to complete the 24-hour development on their projects and present them on the last day of the Hackathon, Sunday 9 December 2018.

Members of the academic community of AUTH, representatives and partners of Microsoft Hellas were members of the jury.
