Top 10 Smartphone Manufacturers

Most of the smartphones sold in Greece are made by just a few manufacturers, but there have been some changes in April, when two models disappeared from the list of those available.

And the other trends of course in the smartphones market remain stable, despite the fact that Greece’s smartphone usage was also followed by a dramatic decrease in sales. One of the reasons for this is that there are fewer new phones on the market, which is due to newer models being released. This means people are more likely to consider buying a phone with more customers.

Consumer preferences have transformed in the last year. Many consumers prefer devices that are more expensive, but they also believe they will use these devices for a longer period.

In particular, the number of devices that cost up to 150 euros has decreased by more than a third this year compared with last year. On the other hand, the share of devices between 150-300 euros has increased from 43.6% to 48.9% and from 7.6-8.1%, and the share of devices between 300-400 euros has also increased, now being at 7.7%. There has been an increase in devices with a price range from 400-600 euros and from what we can tell, this increase is coming from the second month of 2019. Previously, its share was 4.1% but it’s now 4.3%.

Smartphones have now become the dominant form of electronic device. And thanks to the latest innovations, they have also been bringing in more sales than their competitors.

The golden “ten” of manufacturers

However, in the first month of 2019 Samsung regained their No. 1 spot and increased its share by 12%. The share of blue screens only continued to rise in the second month of the year as more people began to work with these apps.

After its lead was challenged with the one+one offer, Huawei has started to lose share and is now in 2nd place for the first time in 2019. The main cause of this decline is due to the fact that Huawei is having a hard time retaining flagship customers from other brands when their own products are no longer their best option.

After holding down third place, Xiaomi made a big leap on the road to 2nd place, passing Huawei in February and growing to reach 13.7%. December was the 3rd month with no change in Xiaomi’s market share.

The MLS plummeted again but this time it managed to regain some of its lost ground with a lower decrease in market share. It saw a drop to 7.3% in 2/19 vs 9.4% at the beginning of the year, which is still significant but not as high as previous months.

There was a marginal decrease in the share of market Apple achieved, which still remains in 5th place. The change is lower than that experienced last year, where it dropped from 7.1% to 6.4%. However, it has already reached that number again in February this year.

Honor’s performance has been better and better throughout the years, which is why it became the first choice of many business owners in Greece.

After the initial early enthusiasm, Nokia’s share has continued to decline in the last few months. Their share fell below 2% in April, as compared to 3.8% in February last year

Ten brands make up the top of the rankings in this category. Alcatel, Vodafone and Meizu are at the top, but their share isn’t measurable, as it is less than 2%. Sony, Lenovo and ZTE all share a similar low position.

Of course the ranking changes if you categorize based on sales value. In this case, Samsung is once again in first place for the same period last year with a 35% share of the market. There is wild fluctuation of shares her. Apple has always been able to take the last piece of market share, roughly around 25%. It’s interesting that this month it’s actually slightly lower than last year and a lot lower in December. Following closely behind is Huawei with their share hovering around 22% while in fourth place is Xiaomi which has dropped to 9% from the 10%-12% it used to have for some time last year. In fifth place, but by a wide margin, is MLS with their share hovering around 58%.

It is worth noting that the four largest builders have about 90% of the market based on sales.
