A radio writer of the 60s is revived

It was in 2016 in London when Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni’s Radio Phonograph owned by David Bowie went for more than €300,000 (£257,000).

The RR126 remains a typical 1960s design. It is a legend in the game that has been re-released by Brionvega as the Radiofonografo, starting at 7,980 euros. The original design for this turntable dates back to 1965 and it’s one of the most talked about turntables in history.

It’s not just about listening to songs on this turntable, either! As you can see, the “smiley face” panel has a number of instruments on it that are also used for operating the radio and control the turntable.

Despite all this, the speakers are probably the most memorable aspect of this device. They’re not only clear and loud but also rotate to be placed on different surfaces for unique functionality. Additionally, you can enjoy a degree of portability with this device.

Brionvega have a firm belief in analogue and keep their sets as simple as possible. They did this in 2008 as well, but back then they didn’t resist the temptation of adding a CD and DVD player. Now they are eschewing modern technology in favor of a “pure” machine from the past. As a glorious celebration of analogue technology, 100 tracks will be available, one of each colour.

These are numbered and handmade, being collectible from the place of their birth.
