The Netherlands top the e-commerce list
The Netherlands is the most dynamic, and well-prepared country in the world for e-commerce. The country comes first in the “Business-to-Consumer e-commerce 2018” index compiled by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. Eight European countries are on the top ten list for e-commerce, confirming that their businesses and consumers have a digital mindset. In second place is Singapore in the global ranking, followed by Switzerland in third, Great Britain in fourth and Norway in fifth.
The list is completed by Iceland in sixth place, Ireland in seventh, Sweden in eighth, New Zealand in ninth and Denmark in tenth. “The Netherlands performs highly on most of the indicators examined, especially on critical indicators such as safe transport. It also has the second highest proportion of online shoppers in the world, representing 76% of the population aged 15 years and over,” said the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development’s analysis of the “Business-to-Consumer (B2C) e-commerce index 2018”.
