We all love retro consoles. The impressive sales of the Classic Mini NES and the SNES Classic Mini certainly prove it. Nintendo has recently, however, set the internet on fire with a different kind of news. It has filed an application in Japan to register the Game Boy trademark, which, as you can imagine, has created a buzz among the gaming community. The submission of the trademark application took place on September 15th, 2018. Later, a Japanese Twitter account, specializing in trademark news, made a rather exciting post. In the photo there was unmistakeably the original 1989 Game Boy covering all the merchandise of the company.
Maybe the filing of the application has a deeper meaning. Maybe we should expect a Classic Edition coming up in 2019, marking the 30th anniversary of existence. Speculation has arisen that Nintendo will be releasing a smaller version of the Game Boy soon. These rumors have a lot of merit, as before the release of the NES and SNES Classic Mini, they registered the trademarks similarly. These are some terrific news. We may see the release of a Game Boy Mini.
