Turn your hand into a touchscreen | The prototype of LumiWatch
Researchers from Carnegie Mellon University have unveiled a new smartwatch and it can turn your hand into a touchscreen. LumiWatch is the prototype that projects an interactive surface on your hand with so that you can use the device with ease. Unlocking your device only takes a swipe, and it can project a surface area up to 40 square centimeters. This interactive area on the arm is about 5 times the available touch screen of a smartwatch.
The watch is highly technologically advanced with a laser projector, a Qualcomm 1.2Ghz quad-core CPU, 768MB of RAM, 4GB of flash memory, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The battery can last for up to an hour of continuous use and will still last you a whole day if you take it intermittently.
Even though there are still some hurdles before the device is functionally practical, the researchers themselves stress that this is progress for its field. They also estimate that the retail cost of the LumiWatch would be around $600.
The arm literally transforms to a touchscreen! Who would have thought that technology would evolve so quickly so soon? Amazing!
