Flexible and self-employed workers | The “Future Laboratory” for flexible working
Employees are increasingly becoming home-based, with flexible work hours that allow them to spend more time at home to meet family responsibilities Today, the workplace is becoming a much more dynamic environment that is changing quickly. Technologies are continually evolving and changing the nature of the jobs we do.
To provide better insights about the type of workplace we are currently experiencing, Unum UK partnered with “The Future Laboratory” in order to conduct a survey involving 3,000 workers across Europe. They spoke to various industry experts and business leaders about topics like artificial intelligence, robotics and flexible working.
The study concluded that not only do employees not want to return to old methods, but also hate them. Decreased productivity comes with employee’s work dissatisfaction. Employees are strongly obligated to give back to their employers when they have been given various tools and opportunities that allow them to express themselves freely and comfortably at work.
Self-employment allows individuals to practice their profession any way they please. It provides freedom to choose how much work and when it’s done. It really influences employees’ workflow, productivity and general behavior in the work environment. Bosses misbehaving to employees, thus, is really meaningless and detrimental in, at least, financial terms.
