All iPhone devices discontinued during the year
Rumors about Apple ending sales for the iPhone 11 have been circulating online for a while. The new iPhone 14 is already almost here and the end is near for some older models.
Apple has revealed that it stopped producing the iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus since 2020. For a long time, rumors have been circulating about the possibility of discontinuing the 2019 models, but this is confirmation that we’re on track to the discontinuation. Many say that the reason is last month’s release of iPhone SE 2022 with A15 Bionic processor and 5G networking. Its sales did not start very well, possibly due to its more old-school design. So Apple doesn’t want to cannibalize its sales any further, as many seem to prefer the slightly more expensive iPhone 11 which comes with two cameras and a more modern design. As the iPhone 12 is a much-loved device, it is probably unlikely to discontinue production. Although the prices have increased worldwide, this doesn’t seem to keep it from selling well, and furthermore production costs have gone down. The estimates are that Apple will release the iPhone 14 at a cheaper price. It is possible that they may even drop their normal pricing at the same time.
It is unclear if the iPhone 12 mini will still be on the market. The company stresses, though, that the iPhone 13 will remain in stock.
