The Best Antivirus
AV-Test recently awarded Microsoft’s free security solution it’s ‘top product’ rating. This is only earned by three other paid-for alternatives.

Windows Defender has a less than stellar reputation but this test seems to show things are changing.

As Softpedia reports, independent online security institute AV-TEST spent the entire month of May and June testing various antivirus products without fail. The factory settings were used to decide which provides the best level of security. Out of all these products, only four managed to get the best possible score. Windows Defender was one of them.
-
The others are F-Secure SAFE 17, Kaspersky Internet Security 19.0 and Norton Security 22.17. The main difference between Windows Defender and the other top contenders is that they provide it for free with their software, while the others need a subscription to be fully functional.

Webroot SecureAnywhere 9.0 was last. Some barely lost the top score , but still managed to take the “Top Product” title such as Avast Free AntiVirus 19.5, AVG Internet Security 19.5, Bitdefender Internet Security 23.0 and Trend Micro Internet Security 23.0

It’s clear that there are many other good options that provide quality protection and Microsoft is raising the bar with its new releases. It comes out on top of its competitors and provides a free service that’s compatible with Windows 10. Other companies, if they want to remain attractive offerings for Windows 10 users will have to start changing their strategies.
