On January 26, 2022, the Chinese giant announced the launch of its two new models, the Xiaomi Redmi 11Pro and Redmi 11 Pro 5G, with a 120Hz display and a better-than-ever camera with 108MP resolution.

These are different models from those aimed at the Chinese market and first made their appearance about 2 months ago. Firstly, the global models are somewhat smaller and lighter than the Chinese models. Secondly, while all of them are dual sim models, the global ones are Hybrid Dual Sim. This means that instead of a second sim card, the user can insert a microSD in that slot.

The two Xiaomi Redmi 11 Pro models may look quite similar to each other in design (as with the newer iPhone models ) but they differ mainly in their chipset, as one offers the user 5G connectivity while the other offers 4G connectivity.

For the 5G model developers chose the Snapdragon 695. Its predecessor, the Snapdragon 690, didn’t support 5G connectivity, but also lagged in performance. In the Snapdragon 695 the CPU has  improved by 15% while the GPU has improved by over 30%.

It comes in 6GB and 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM with 64GB or 128GB UFS 2.2 capacity with memory insertion as mentioned above both this and the other model have hybrid cards.

The 4G correspondent

For the 4G model on the other hand a softer chip has been chosen, the Helio G96 with two Cortex-A76 CPU cores. These cores stay a few generations behind the Snapdragon. Common elements between the two models are the RAM as well as the capacity.

Apart from these, the two models also share screen dimensions and device size. Furthermore, both will “wear” the brand new MIUI 13 software which is based on the Android 11 logic. They also share 6.67-inch MOLED displays with 1080p+ (20:9) resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate.

We expect the release of Xiaomi Redmi 11 Pro and Redmi 11 Pro 5G around in mid-February with the former starting at €300 and the latter at €330.
