Most successful PC in history! | Launch of the infamous Commodore 64 | Techday, January 7th
On this TECHDAY in history, on January 7th 1982, the most successful home computer of all time makes its impressive debut. Specifically, at the 1982 Winter CES, the Commodore 64′s unveiling took place, the first introduction to the public. The computer soon found a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, achieving over 15 million sales in its 12 years of release. That is really an overwhelming number! Of course, being a commercial sucess, the computer model was top in the appropriate division share market.
The Commodore 64 (C64) was the successor to the VIC-20 and was released in September 1982. During the 1980s, the most successful PC dominated the low-end computer market, with no particularly strong competitor until the BBC Micro and the ZX Spectru, most of all. Having dazed the international consumer market, the model didn’t sell well only in Japan, and a small wider part of Eastern Asia.
