Birthday of Thomas Edison | Techday, February 11th
On this TECHDAY in history, on February 11th 1847, one of the most famous inventors of all time is born in Ohio, USA. Thomas Edison, thanks to whom the electric light bulb, the phonograph and the microphone, among many other things, were invented or developed. With 1,093 patents, Thomas Edison is considered the fourth most prolific inventor in history. Other fields of development include the mass communication, sound recording, the electric power generation, even motion pictures!
Fun fact, due to scarlet fever during childhood he developed hearing problems at the young age of 12. His complete deafness to one ear would make him improvise on his day-to-day activities. For example, when listening to the piano he would, allegedly, clamp his teeth to absorb the sound waves in his skull. Later on, he believed his hearing impairment would allow him to be more focused on his experiments, made at home where he spent most of his time, being homeschooled by his mother.
