The Sinclair ZX Spectrum +3 features a Zilog Z80A processor at 3.54 MHz and memory of 128kB. Equipped with a FDD floppy disk of 3″ it ran with the operating system of the Sinclair +3DOS version.
The company launched the series in 1982 with the present model almost instantly becoming the best selling microcomputer in the UK, thus launching the British information technology industry. The ZX series included the ZX81, predecessor of black and white display and eight different variants for the ZX Spectrum. To note, there were also some clones entering the market, both official and unofficial. The complete family of computers sold very well, earning a well deserved place in the competitive intended market.
The biggest rivals were the Commodore 64, the Oric-1 and Oric Atmos, the BBC Micro and the Amstrad CPC computer line.
