Fear of personal data

Fear of personal data

People today seem more and more interested in limiting their digital distractions. Online privacy, social media use and mobile phone addiction are becoming increasingly important. The question is this: who’s tying your digital habits down? You are or maybe your favorite gadget? A recent survey by Kaspersky states that at least 4 out of 10 people are planning to make drastic changes with their digital devices.

It’s important to limit the time they spend on their digital devices every day.

Passwords have long been a target for cybercriminals. Kaspersky, one of the leaders in cybersecurity, has stated that passwords stolen in 2019 up to 60% more than they were in 2018.This marks a concern about the use of personal data. In addition, login credential abuses were on the rise, while those for adult websites increased by more than 100%.

The result of the survey shows that 56% of internet users believe complete privacy in today’s digital world is impossible. They also found that 32.3% were unsure about how to fully protect their privacy online. In some cases, it takes a lot of time and effort to do so

With these new advances, it is not surprising that 42.3% of the participants in the survey say that their goal is to improve their daily lives with those digital technologies by 2020.

Despite the rising use of AI assistants in the workplace, many people are likely to seek to reduce their time spend on screens and detox from their reliance on their smartphones.

As for how much security should you have in your device, 25% of people said they back up or clean their device on a regular basis while 11.2% said they delete friends that they haven’t met face to face. Data suggests that cyber knowledge will become even more valuable in the 2020s.

User’s protection

If you want to protect your personal data, it’s vital that you take some steps on your end. Some simple steps include securing all devices you use online. It’s important to level up protection on  cash transactions, shopping, and of course social media posts.

Choose unique, complex passwords for each of your online accounts. Keep track of what can be tracked and shared to make sure the most privacy and security settings are checked. Use a VPN to turn off apps and features if you don’t use them. Turn off tracking and location services that may be saving data on your activity by going into the privacy settings of each app.

Looking for the best services to use if you’ve had your personal information hacked is important if you want to be secure. Services like the “Have I Been Pawned” check are invaluable- they save you days of checking to see if your account has been hacked. They provide peace of mind so that new customers can feel confident and safe on your site.
