TouchID + FaceID in future iPhones

TouchID + FaceID in future iPhones

The European Patent Office recently revealed a patent application from Apple on the use of Face ID and ID on the same iPhone. The newest models have only one biometric security feature, Face ID. A user who cannot verify an Apple Pay transaction using the Face ID will have to try Face ID again or use Touch ID. If both fail, the phone asks the user to enter a password.

Face ID is a facial recognition technology, developed by Apple Inc. It was first introduced in 2017 with the iPhone X and has since been included in all new iPhone models. The technology uses a front-facing TrueDepth camera system to map the user’s face and create a detailed 3D model for use in unlocking the device and for other features such as Apple Pay.

In 2019, Apple released the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max, all of which include Face ID technology. The technology has improved over thea years substantially. I has a faster and more accurate system that can recognize a user’s face even in low-light conditions. Additionally, the TrueDepth camera system received updates, as a wider field of view for example.

The future of Face ID technology will continue improving with advancements in machine learning and facial recognition technology. There is speculation that future iPhone models will include the ability to recognize multiple faces, allowing for multiple users to unlock the device with their own faces. Additionally, it is possible that Face ID will accompany other features such as augmented reality and 3D modeling.
