The Facebook Container tool | Isolating web traces from Facebook tracking system
After the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica scandal, there were many online campaigns against the popular social media platform. Users and pages within it participated to let their voice be heard.
Even those who were deeply disturbed by the scandal are willing to acknowledge that they cannot delete their accounts because Facebook is a big part of their lives. And fortunately for these people Mozilla gives them a solution. The Facebook Container tool is now available in the Mozilla browser and it will prevent Facebook from collecting personal data.
The extension will prevent the company from gathering data about your Web-browsing, but not about your Facebook activity. Your posts and comments will remain in their system. The tool will isolate your web activity and Facebook won’t track your visits, clicks and preferences.
Like in a container, your navigation through Facebook will be in complete isolation. All non-Facebook links and websites will load outside of this so called container. At this point we should remind that the company still has access to everything you would do while on the platform.
