Software vulnerabilities for Safari browser
It recently came to light that a software vulnerability existed in a popular browser. Apple’s well-known browser, Safari, was recently the center of two different types of vulnerabilities.
The rules of the competition can cause a small inconvenience for security researchers and limit how many attempts they have to make an exploit succeed. One of the two vulnerabilities got past the number of attempts by one and Apple executives didn’t notice because the findings were more important. The first exploit contains a kernel corruption. Once it is run, code is executed that allows the contents of Safari to be compromised.
Not only did the Prize winning researchers receive $65,000 and $55,000 for this work, but they were paid directly by the company people. They were contacted to let them know about the new vulnerability and how they can help fix it right away.
