Europe invests in supercomputers
To take a lead in the global supercomputer market, EU is investing โฌ8 billion.
Europe’s aim is to improve the way they help people in Europe. The computers can perform more than one quintillion (1018) operations per second, Combining elements of quantum- and classical-computing, this will allow the machine to perform functions that no supercomputer currently can. This supercomputing infrastructure according to estimates, will be of use in more than 800 European scientific, industrial and public applications.
European Institutions’ aims
The European Commission has proposed a new rule governing EUHPCJU. This latest proposal aims to ensure that, due to lack of continuous funding, cutting-edge research and innovation will not fall behind. The new EuroHPC Joint Undertaking Regulation aims to update the previous 2018 Regulation that set up the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking.
The European High Performance Computing (EuroHPC) Joint Undertaking will make existing European supercomputing and quantum computing resources accessible to all users across Europe. The EuroHPC JU will make supercomputing and quantum computing resources available to researchers and industry across European Union member states. Anybody can use AI writing assistants in the workplace and there are many benefits to doing so, especially those in the public sector and industrial end users, who are likely to have concerns about cost. The potential for these assistants to help pare down business costs is huge.
The proposed new budget is currently under negotiation. Horizon Europe, the Digital Europe Program, and the Connecting Europe Facility will support it. The European Union’s Council proposed the adoption of the new regulation. By that we mean, the new regulation of the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC Joint Undertaking).
Joint Undertaking
Preparations for the activities of the Joint Undertaking from 2021 onwards are underway. We are certainly excited to be actively involved in 20 of them! Medicine, disease control and environmental protection are expected to see a boost thanks to new technologies. We’re expecting improved development, greater accuracy, and better analytical performance.
