Reduction of administrative burden
Greek companies will now have access to more information on other EU member countries, including shares, share capital, and financials. This is just one of the features that European e-justice platform has. The IoT will help improve competitiveness, reduction of the administrative burden, and increase transparency.
The Ministry of Economy announced the interconnection of the GEMI with the European Union’s Single Commercial Disclosure Platform. The Ministry noted that Greece was the first country to connect as early as 8th of June, followed by 14 other EU member states.
On this platform, interested parties can search for information on the basic company data as well as updates on ventures that pertain to the company in which they are interested (name, registration number, EUID, registered office, register, paid-up share capital, type of company), company representatives of each EU member country, as well as for Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, Overseas subsidiary information is also available on this platform.
This allows for a more thorough search for the company or organizations information in e-justice. This is possible by searching a company’s name or registration number in their country of origin’s commercial register. For Greece it’s the 12-digit GEMI number or the country’s prefix, EL GEMI for Greek companies.
The Ministry of Finance notes that with this initiative, Greece is able to offer a level playing field for businesses in the EU while providing more certainty as to how they interact within the economy.
