The Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Information has completed the establishment of the Digital Infrastructure Registry of Greece. Its goal is to make all of the country’sย telecommunications network infrastructures more visible. This will improve service quality in Greece.
In the announcement, there is a slide that states “Classif” which is an app for businesses. There are different types of apps for citizens related to the mapping of telecommunications networks in the country.
The project will provide new guidelines on the best possible use of networks. It will contribute to a faster and more affordable rollout of networks across Latin America. In addition, the government may use legal interventions to set limits and safety standards so as to prevent incidents.
Already, the Geographic Information System, made by the General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Post, assists in processing information more efficiently and quickly. It also yields valuable statistical results used to draw conclusions, help formulate and implement plans for broadband, like the National Plan for Next Generation Broadband Access. (NGA Plan 2014-2020).
LA Hub
First, the LA hub will provide links to the different telecommunications networks in an area. Then, they will develop a digital infrastructure registry that provides useful information. They will inform people on business routes and installations and also how much bandwidth these networks offer. This means LAs can provide users with a better idea of what’s available within each geographic area. All communications networks will be calculated on a regional level, which can help simplify the process of locating resources. Governments will also use Geographic Information System technologies to implement their infrastructure developments, simplifying the process for both industries and local authorities alike.
The next phase for the Digital Infrastructure Register will be to include other infrastructure networks such as water, sewerage, gas, etc. This will allow applications for approval/giving of rights to conclude, even from across the country, in one place, time spent on deployments of enhanced network infrastructure.
