One of Kaspersky’s arguments is the following. Microsoft shows users a scary-looking notification when they install their Microsoft Defender Antivirus. It asks them to uninstall any other third party antivirus software they may have in order to activate it.
FAS Russia, the Russian government agency responsible for healthy competition (among other things), has started investigating a complaint by the Kaspersky Labs company that Microsoft is using unfair practices in the antivirus software market. That’s because of this popular software manufacturer’s accusations, which FAS Russia took seriously.
Windows Defender automatically activates itself if the developer of a virus/antivirus does not comply within the new stranglehold. Previously, this was 2 months but it’s now 6 days. of its operating system.
“Such actions give Microsoft an unfair competitive advantage. It is our responsibility to ensure conditions of equality for all participants in this market,” says Anatoly Golomolzin, head of FAS Russia.
Eugene Kaspersky, the founder and CEO of Kaspersky explains in his blog that there is a “huge mismatch” between Goliath and David. Mr. Gates says he will “attack some of Microsoft’s practices in Europe that are stifling competition in the market for PC security solutions and other areas of software development.” He also invites those who want to work with him on these issues to contact him.
