The Apple Lisa features a Motorola 68000 processor at 5 MHz and memory of 1MB. Equipped with two floppy disks it runs with the operating system of the MacOS, Lisa Office System version.
Lisa preceded the Macintosh brand line of personal computers. Development and sales faced difficulties because of the high price, low efficiency and unreliability. After Steve Jobs was forced out of the Lisa project, he focused on the development of the Macintosh line. Lisa was a commercial failure, unlike its sucessors, the iconic Macintosh computers.
Apple introduced to the world the original Macintosh personal computer through a SuperBowl commercial video, called “1984”. During the years the company has made great innovations and the Mac series had undergone transitions. Regarding the processors from the powerful Motorola 68000 transitioned to IBM ProwerPC processors, to Intel x86 and now to Apple Silicon ones. Performance and power efficiency have been praised by the critics.
The name Macintosh was conceived after, what else, founder’s favorite type of apple, literally the Canadian McIntosh red green apple. Each model introduced to consumers presented friendlier user experience, top of the art aesthetic design and powerful architecture.
