The Casio PB 1000 features a Hitachi HD61700 processor at 32 MHz and memory of 8kB. Equipped with a floppy disk of 3.5” it ran with the operating system of the BASIC version.
With the release of the PB-100, Casio makes a step towards the real pocket computers. While the predecessor of the Casio PB series, the FX-720P, was still called a “calculator”, the PB-100 was now a personal computer. Models from this family, especially the first ones presented mediocre feature and were classified low-end to mid-range. Keyboard was reduced to absolutely minimum, maintaining the QWERTY style.
Of course later models showed more improvements, but regarding the RAM memory after the PB 300 there was none.
A notable feature for this brand line is the fact that Casio was the only manufacturer to combine a personal computer with an integrated printer. Furthermore, models included touch screen display, like the Casio PB 1000.
