The Digital VT180 features a Zilog Z80A processor at 4 MHz and memory of 64kB.
Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), trademarked Digital, was an American electronics company, founded in 1957. The company was involved in various divisions. Apart from the microcomputers it manufactured microprocessors digital tape data storage, workstations, servers etc. In the microcomputers division in particular, company’s product lines met great success. Under constant pressure from rivals such as IBM, the corporation introduced to the world reliable computers with strong features and architecture (VAX). In particular, DEC released the PDP line and VT one as well. Best selling models in the line were the VT100, VT180 codenamed Robin.
During the most productive years, when sales went very well the corporation released many successful product lines. In late 1990s, though, with the company labeled defunct, Compaq completed the acquisition and signed the largest merger in computer history. Soon after that, Compaq went into financial difficulty and merged with HP in 2002.
