The Epson HX-20 features a Hitachi 6301 processor at 614kHz and memory of 16kB. It ran with the operating system of the CP/M 80 version.
Seiko Epson Corporation is an electronics company, today world’s first printers and information manufacturer. Since the foundation, back in 1942, the company was involved in many divisions. Alongside subsidiaries it produces desktop computers, projectors, watches, robots and sensing systems.
In the personal computer division, Seiko met a grand success with the innovation that introduced to consumers. Back in 1980, the corporation released the first true laptop, the HX-20 that was hailed as the fourth revolution in personal computing. Truthfully, not all models met the same commercial success. For example, the PX-8 Geneva compared to other strong rivals featuring medium specifications, was in the shadows of the infamous TRS-80 Model 100.
