Programs that intimidate the user
There are many programs that rely on tactics to try and intimidate users into buying them. Windows Defender has always been ensuring the protection of your computer, not only from malicious software, but also this kind of programs as well. This announcement means more of these programs will be removed in the future.
Programs that use intimidation practices use tactics to make their product seem more valuable than it really is. They want to make you want to try them, which will ultimately lead you to buy the product. These programs are free versions of programs. After the installation, they prompt you to make a number of changes that require immediate correction. It is impossible to fix these errors without buying their full version. In these messages the user is shaking.
Microsoft’s blog post says that there is a significant increase in the number of programs that use ways to intimidate users and ultimately push them to buy software that they don’t really need. The company has decided to change the criteria by which it categorises programs as malicious or unnecessary. In the future, Windows Defender will remove the programs that use intimidation techniques.
