Scientists create a cyborg eye
Today, there exists a lot of fake prosthetic limbs. With the most common being ones that look like real human limbs. However, the University of Science and Technology in Hong Kong has created a cyborg eye that is hard to distinguish from the real thing. One of the biggest issues with today’s devices is they don’t fit exactly into the eye, limiting the user’s field of vision and failing to reach 140 degrees.
Photographers use large lenses to focus light onto a hemispherical retina, closely mimicking the eye. So, the retina is made up of your normal blood vessels, the rods and cones and this conducting fluid, which moves to simulate how waves would work in a human eye.
Using nano-wires and electrodes, scientists created a cyborg eye that can sense light. When there is light, the robot will transmit electrical signals. A future version of the eye could be self-sufficient, with all power being generated from photovoltaic cells. Have you already heard that scientists create a cyborg eye?
